Innovator and local business leader JD Claridge has officially announced his candidacy for Coeur d’Alene City Council, Seat 6. With a commitment to elevating the voices of those residents often ignored who live outside of downtown, Claridge aims to bring a fresh perspective to the council while prioritizing family values.
“As a long-time resident and business owner in Coeur d’Alene, I am dedicated to representing the interests of those who feel overlooked by current leadership,” said Claridge. “For too long, decisions have been driven by narrow interests that do not always reflect the needs of our broader population. I am running to ensure every resident has a voice in shaping our city’s future.”
Claridge, a 20-year resident of North Idaho and CEO of xCraft, a drone manufacturing company he co-founded in 2014, brings a wealth of experience in leadership and innovation. His platform emphasizes fostering an environment that supports families, promotes affordable housing, and ensures responsible urban development.
Key priorities include upholding traditional family values in the governing process, limiting unnecessary surveillance of our citizens, and favoring family-friendly development over high-density housing.
“I believe in cultivating solutions that make Coeur d’Alene an even better place to live, work, and raise a family,” Claridge stated. “While some council members have worked on housing challenges,a different approach is needed to create opportunities for first-time homebuyers and to preserve the character of our community.”
A devoted family man, Claridge has been married to his wife, Kara, for 25 years, and together they have five children ages 12 to 21. They are active members of Equipt Church in Hayden.
With deep roots in the community, Claridge is passionate about giving back to Coeur d’Alene and ensuring it remains a vibrant, welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.
